Frequently Asked Questions

Brazen Print offers a FAQ (Frequently Asked Question) page to help understand some of the common problems and concerns customers have regarding the full-color printing process, turnaround time, and payment questions.

In this FAQ you will find information about business card printing, letterhead printing, brochure printing, and postcard printing. For example, this page explains that when printing letterhead and envelopes, we offer full bleed color on one side. When printing postcards, business cards, brochures, and flyers, however, you have the option of full color on both sides.

A color guide is also available to help you determine the proper CMYK values to assign your business cards in order to achieve the color you want. Although our discount printing prices are very reasonable, customers who are interested in our reseller and affiliate programs can find information on them here too.

We also answer questions regarding full-color postcard printing, brochure/flyer orientation and folding, orientation before printing for all products, 4-color postcards, business cards, and brochures, as well as questions on such topics as turnaround times.

Although you have many options to choose from when it comes to printing your postcards and business cards, this page will explain why Brazen Print is the best choice for you!

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us via email at info@brazenprint.com or by calling us at 1-888-677-2000. Ask us how our Valued Customer Program can get you amazing discounts and even free business cards!

What type of paper is used?
We use a 14-point New 15-point (350 gsm) stock with a satin matte finish for our business cards and post cards. If a glossy U/V coating is applied it will add one point of thickness. For our letterhead and envelopes we use a 70 pound acid free opaque paper. Brochures are a 100 pound gloss book that is coated on both sides. All products are printed on off-set presses.

I have my files designed ad saved as .DOC, what do I do now?
Please save your doc file(s) out to PDF, then email us for adjustments. We suggest downloading the program, Adobe Acrobat or a PDF distiller to do this. Saving the doc files as PDFs enables us to view the file exactly how you designed it. Your layout, images, and fonts are embedded in the file. To save the files out to PDF simply go to FILE, then scroll down to EXPORT AS PDF, or SAVE TO PDF. Name the file, and email the PDF as an attachment to service@Brazenprints to be adjusted for upload. We will adjust the file, then email you by the next business day the completed file for you to upload onto our website to place your order.

What are the file specifications I should design to?
At Brazen Print we allow printing to the edge of the products and we take pride in having the tightest cutting margins available. These margins are 1/16 of an inch and are named full-bleed (green line) and safe zone (red line) .

Trim Marks The product will be cut on the trim mark (blue line), however the cut may shift up to 1/16 of an inch in any direction. Due to this shift Brazen Print does not recommend borders of any type.

Full Bleed If you wish to have colored backgrounds or images continue to the edge of the product they must continue past the trim marks to the full bleed margin. If they do not continue to the full bleed margin you most likely will end up with white strips along the edge of the product due to our cutting tolerance.

Safe Zone Text or any other elements you want to guarantee not to be trimmed off must be placed within the safe zone. If they are placed directly next to the trim mark and the cutting is off but within tolerance, the text will be chopped off. Due to our cutting process and tolerance we do not recommend borders of any kind. By our policy we are protected to cut 1/16' outside or inside the Trim Marks.

Do I receive proofs prior to print?
Brazen Print does not send out hard copy proofs. All proofs are viewed online. What you see on the preview screen is what will be printed.

Can you give me a quote?
All pricing is listed on our PRICING page in correlation to the quantity and the number of sides. There is no extra charge for gloss and since we are a 4/4 CYMK color press, there is no extra charge for additional colors. Glossy UV coating is provided to the customer at no additional charge on single or double sided cards. There is a $2 charge per 100 cards for the rounded corners option. Shipping costs vary upon the weight of the package and the destination of the package.

Do all orders have to be placed online?
Yes. Brazen Print does not accept any walk-in or orders by mail. This includes cds with files, scanned images, or hard copy prints. All orders must be placed via our website. If design assistance is needed, please email the files or request to service@Brazenprints.com. If the files are too large, you may zip the files into a compressed folder, or divide the files into seperate emails to us. Our representatives will contact you promptly.

Placing an Order - What browsers do you support?
Our site is supported by Mozilla Firefox, and Internet Explorer. You will need to make sure you have cookies, and java script enabled.

What files do we support?
We accept 300 dpi JPG, TIF, and PDF files for custom upload designs. We also accept Adobe Illustrator and EPS files version 8 or lower, and Publisher 2003 or higher for custom business card and 4X6 postcard uploads.

Are the colors shown on the preview screen accurate?
Color fidelity warranted by Brazen Print is consistent with industry standards for "pleasing color." Brazen Print offers no guarantee of "match-print" or "match-product" color fidelity. Brazen Print cannot prevent slight color shift throughout an order. Brazen Print does not guarantee color will match the preview as it appears on a customers monitor, as we cannot compensate for a color variance on each customer's monitor.

We do ask all custom uploaded files to be designed in CMYK, and uploaded as RGB. RGB has a larger color gamut and will print in brighter colors with less fading. We also accept files uploaded in CMYK. If your file contains large quantities of blues and purples, it may be best to upload in CMYK as RGB often has trouble with darker colors. If you do upload in CMYK, we ask you design using our preferred color profile for better color accuracy. Brazen Print uses the US Sheetfed Coated color profile. If you have any questions, please click the link on the right called "RGB & CMYK."

RGB: More effective with brighter colors, does not fade, problems with darker colors, particularly blue.
CMYK: More effective with darker colors, most colors appear faded, problems with bright colors, more true blues and purples.

How do I order?
Brazen Print now offers three different options to place your order. You are able to use our Classic Designer, our new Interactive Designer, or you can create the design using any of the programs listed on our FILE HELP page to create the design to your liking for upload submission.

If you are having problems with either of our online designers, you will need to delete your cookies so information from other sites does not interfere with our system. For file submission via upload, we ask the files to be designed in CYMK, then saved as RGB for upload, as our system automatically converts the file back to CYMK for print. This will cause less color shift during print.

Please keep in mind that our new Interactive Designer is new. We do not recommend that you solely rely on this feature to create your design because it is still a a new option. If you do experience difficulties with this designer please contact us at service@Brazenprints.com or (888) 677-2000. As we are an online company, all orders must be placed and paid for through our website. There are two ways to place orders with us. You can either create a cards using our online designers, or you can create a card using your own design program and upload it to our website for ordering.

To use the online designer, you would simply click "Post Cards starting at $49.95","Business Cards starting at $9.95", "Letterhead starting at $39.95" or "Brochures starting at $99.95". You would then click the option that says "Design Business Cards Online." From there you can select a background from our premade templates, add text, images, select your quantity, add the UV Coating, add rounded corners if desired, and obtain shipping prices. The website will guide you completely through the checkout process.

To create a card outside of our website and upload it to our website, we ask that you follow the directions given under our "File Help" tab on our website. Once you have created the card file to our specs listed in our File Help tab, you would simply upload your file for ordering. You can do so by following the steps below.
1. Save the file(s) to your My Documents.
2. Go to our website, www.BrazenPrints.com .
3. Click on the heading for the product you would like to order (ie: "Business Cards Starting at $9.95")
4. Click on "Upload a Finished Card for Printing."
5. Browse for the front (and back if you have one) of your card. Once the file is in the appropriate box, front and back, select "Upload and Preview." From there, the website will guide you through the uploading process.

How do I make changes to my order?
As an Brazen Print customer, the customer is granted full access to their account from any computer as long as you enter all the shipping, up to the billing portion of the order. You have the ability to place their order on hold, edit their order, upgrade their shipping, track their order and cancel your order as long as the order has not yet printed. Simply log onto MY ORDERS located on the top right hand side of our website with your invoice and email address and select the option that is needed. Be sure to write down your invoice number prior to completing your order.

Why is my Illustrator file uploading off center?
When creating your Illustrator file you must create a white background layer that completely fills the full bleed size of the file. This will prevent the file from cropping to a different file size.

Am I able to save my design and then come back to it?
To save a design using the Interactive Designer or Classic Designer you will have to add the card to the Shopping Cart. Once in the Shopping Cart there is a link at the bottom of the page that says, Continue to Checkout. Follow that process until the website asks you for the credit card information. At this point you will not have to add that information, but rather save your invoice number.

Once you decide to come back and complete the payment, go through My Orders on the website. It will ask you for your invoice number and e-mail address then give you instructions on how to complete the payment or edit the card. Please note that if this process is not completed the entire design will be erased and you will have to start from the beginning.

Placing an Order - I am unable to place my order on hold.
If your order has already been printed, you will be unable to place the order on hold. If your order has not printed and you are still having a problem, call 888-677-2000 for further assistance.

Placing an Order - How do I reorder cards?
Below are the steps you will need to take to reorder your old cards:

1. Log on to MY ORDERS located on the top right hand side of our website using your email address and old invoice number. (if you do not know your old invoice number, you can obtain a list of you previous orders under the FIND MY ORDERS section on the MY ORDERS page. You will need to know the correct email address that that order was placed under.)

2. Click "How to Reorder."

3. Click "Reorder Now."

4. Your card should be in the shopping cart at this time.

    a. If you want to change the order in any way (ie: quantity, background, writing, information, etc), and it is an order you created using on line templates, click the little "edit" link next to the small preview of the card. This will allow you to edit the order. If it is an order you uploaded to our website, you will need to edit your original files and create a new order.

    b. If you want to add more products to the order, click "Add More Products" at the bottom left hand corner of the shopping cart.

    c. If everything is correct, and you do not need to change or add anything to the order, click "Continue Checkout" at the bottom right hand corner of the shopping cart.

What causes color drift and color out of spec?
The accuracy limitations of CMYK printing are that the results can vary, sometimes greatly, depending on the range, how it is calibrated, and the particular color you are trying to print. Even the results from different digital printers or presses can vary, so color accuracy may be an issue, particularly if you're printing items at different times or with different printers. There are also colors that cannot be reproduced using the CMYK process - such as metallics and very bright colors. It is VERY IMPORTANT that you don't use spot colors in your document. Inevitably, the colors shift when converted to CMYK, and this could be a cause of the color out of spec you're experiencing. A good idea for designers might be to go into the Pantone Process Book and pick a process color that's as close to the spot color as possible, when choosing to use a four-color printer. Select a color that can be printed in CMYK. Use the process color instead; the color is much more likely to print.

Does my custom design meet the specifications?
Uploaded files must fill the entire area to the full bleed dimensions. Please view our GUIDELINES. What you see on the preview is what will be printed. Please view our MOST COMMON MISTAKES on what is considered a correct upload versus an incorrect upload. Keep in mind the preview does not represent the actual size of the card after print.

Why isn't my file uploading?
For business card and 4X6 postcard uploads, we accept Adobe ILLUSTRATOR and EPS files, the files are saved as version 8 or lower. For Microsoft PUBLISHER files, the version must be 2003 or higher. Otherwise, these files must be converted to 300 dpi pdfs, tifs, or jpgs for correct upload. Please do not submit transparent files for we cannot process multi-layered files. Please submit flattened files under 12MBs per side. For our large size postcards, letterheads, brochures, and envelopes, please submit high resolution jpg's, pdfs, or LZW tifs for upload. If you are still having problems, please delete your cookies from your web browser and refresh the site, then upload. Make sure you are using Firefox or Explorer. If this fails to resolve the upload problem, you may email your files to service@Brazenprints.com for any file/design problems you are having. Subject the email to ATTN: File Support. You will receive a response the next business day with adjusted files or how to adjust your files so you are able to upload the files onto our website to place your order. Brazen Print does not place orders for customers. All orders must be placed online by the customer.

Why isn't my Publisher file uploading?
We accept Publisher 2003 or higher for upload. Other versions need to be saved to 300 dpi commercial printing jpg or tif files. If you have 2003 Publisher or higher and your file isn't uploading, go to file, save as, scroll down to jpg interchangeable format or (tif) tagged image format. Click the CHANGE button and select 300 dpi commercial printing, save and then upload. If you do not have 2003 or higher, you may email us your Publisher file to service@Brazenprints.com and we will convert it to the needed file type for you.

Why aren't my fonts viewing correctly?
Depending on the program you are using, you must ensure all text and images are embeded or outlined. In the case of Publisher, you must embed your fonts by going to TOOLS< COMMERCIAL PRINTING TOOLS, FONTS. Click on EMBED ALL TRUE TYPE FONTS, and unclick the bottom 2 options, hit ok, then upload. Sometimes a font cannot be embedded. If this happens, it is because of a non-registered font, or a preview only font. You will need to substitute the font if so.

What if I am unsatisfied with the product I received?
Brazenprints guarantees a No-Risk Satisfaction Guarantee

Brazen Print promises you will be happy with your product, or we will gladly reprint your order or refund your money.

Please be aware that due to the nature of four-color printing, we cannot print every color available on a computer monitor. We do not color match; instead, we offer the industry standard in “pleasing color” and will make any reasonable adjustments to help correct submitted files. If Brazen Print cannot correct the file or reprint to “pleasing color” standards, then we will issue an RMA and refund the purchase price.

If an issue arises with the printing of your product, please contact our Customer Service department at (888) 677-2000 or service@Brazenprints.com.

Brazen Print will correct improper cutting, color drift, printing delays, and printing quality. The customer should correct files without full bleed or with incorrect color selection, incorrect resolution, incorrect file dimensions, visible crop marks, incorrect card orientation, and spelling or grammar errors. You can always send your file in to our file support department if you are unable to correct these issues yourself.

Before Printing it may be beneficial to read some of our guides. Below are links to useful information.

Can I use my reseller license?
You may apply for a code if you like. Simply fill out the CALIFORNIA RESELLER FORM or KENTUCKY RESELLER FORM . You will need to fax in this form to retrieve a code you may use in the discount code area. If accepted, we will then automatically deduct the tax amount from the purchase.

Does Brazen Print have a pickup / will call option?
Due to Brazen Print printing nationwide we do not offer pickup/will call. We have an automated printing system, therefore can not guarantee a specific printing location.

Why does my paper curl when I print on it?
The paper is slightly wet due to the ink and water being applied during the printing process. It needs about 1-2 weeks to completely dry depending on humidity. In most cases it's usable out of the box, but in high humidity places it could take a few days.
